About Steve Stambaugh

Steve Stambaugh was born and raised in York County.  His York County roots go back to the 1740’s.

After graduating from York Suburban in 1981, Steve attended the University of Pittsburgh where he earned dual degrees in Political Science and Psychology in addition to which Steve swam for the PITT NCAA Division One Men’s Varsity Swimming Team.  Following his graduation in 1985 Steve went on to attend Law School at the University of Miami where he graduated at the top of his class (27th out of 355) with multiple high honors including Order of the Coif and the Inter-American Law Review.  Steve’s academic excellence opened countless job opportunities across the Nation with the result that Steve ultimately accepted a position in 1988 at the international law firm of Sedgwick Detert Moran & Arnold at their main office in San Francisco, California.  After experiencing the World Series Earthquake, wildfires, droughts, and the various other natural calamities of life in California, coupled with foreseeing the demise of the Golden State generally and San Francisco specifically, Steve decided to return to his roots in York.

In 1992 Steve joined the law firm of Blakey, Yost, Bupp & Schaumann in order to work with Retired Judge Albert Blakey.  Steve transitioned to personal injury work in 1996 eventually going out on his own in 2004.  Through his law firm, Stambaugh Law, P.C., Steve has earned a reputation of zealously representing his clients coupled with honesty and direct dealings with opposing counsel and the Courts before which he practices.  Steve’s off the chart work ethic is a labor of love.  He looks forward to bringing that same work ethic to the Court of Common Pleas where he will represent and give a voice to the citizens of York County while preserving all that is great about our Founding Fathers, our Nation, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and York County.

Steve believes that you judge people not by what they say but by what they have done.

Steve has been a registered Republican his entire life, even while he lived in San Francisco.  Steve is a Life Member of the NRA, the Izaak Walton League of America, York Chapter #67 and the Yorkana Game and Gun Club. In response to President Clinton’s Gun Ban, Steve became an NRA Referral Attorney in 1993, literally 27 years ago at which time he was the only NRA Referral Attorney in Pennsylvania.  Steve’s love for America and gratitude to our First Responders is exemplified by his “Proud to Back the Blue” billboards that you have seen across York County in 2020 while riots consumed cities across our Nation.

Steve’s great passion is riding motorcycles and he is a well-known member of York’s Harley Davidson community.  He is a proud member of the following motorcycle clubs in York: the York County Harley Davidson Owner’s Association, the White Rose Motorcycle Club: NDHP Motorcycle Fraternity, the York Harley Owner’s Group, the York Motorcycle Club, Mason Dixon ABATE (Alliance of Bikers Aimed Toward Education), and others.  One of Steve’s highest honors was being selected as the Grand Marshall for York’s 25th Annual York Bike Night in 2019, which was York’s last and final Bike Night.  Steve is also a Mason, Red Lion Lodge, # 649, in the proud tradition of several of our Founding Fathers, including George Washington.

With 34 years of civil court experience, Steve Stambaugh is the only candidate with the experience necessary to fill the open Civil Court seat on the York County Court of Common Pleas.

York’s Court of Common Pleas has two openings, one in Criminal Court (Judge Trebilcock’s seat) and the other in Civil Court (Judge Renn’s seat).  Steve is running for the Civil Court seat and is the only candidate with the experience necessary to fill Judge Renn’s seat.  Steve has 34 years of civil court experience.  Steve has handled civil cases in the state and federal courts in Pennsylvania, California and Florida.  Steve has presented cases in numerous counties across Pennsylvania going as far as Erie for the mother of a local Attorney.  Since returning to Pennsylvania Steve has handled cases in Florida, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Virginia, North Carolina, and others he has forgotten.  Steve’s civil court experience includes both sides of personal injury claims (accidents, premises liability, medical malpractice, products liability, etc.) as well as cases involving consumer protection, construction defects, insurance coverage, insurance bad faith, securities fraud, bank failure litigation, etc.  Steve’s knowledge and experience of Civil Law is encyclopedic.  Steve has sat on the York County Court of Common Pleas Arbitration Panels, most times as Chairman, every time he has been eligible since the late 1990’s.  Steve will hit the ground running on Day One.

If elected Judge, Steve Stambaugh will be firm but fair.

He will do what he has always done, which is research the law until he finds the best cases on point for the legal issues that are before him.  At the end of the day Steve will seek the most just result in each and every case before him.
